The release of Windows 10 was just on time as many PC fanatics will jump into it to test the new features of the Microsoft latest operating system (OS). As usual, every versions of Microsoft products required activation before user can fully utilizes the system functionalities.
What is an activation? It’s a way of verifying that your copy if OS is legit and not been used on more than one device as per Microsoft Software License Terms.
As for Windows 10, the process is slightly different than the previous versions of OS. The official activation methods will use either a digital entitlement or a 25-character product key depending on how you got your copy of OS.
This article will show you the legit or official process as well as using the third-party software i.e. activator to activate our computer system.
The Official Activation Method
With Win 10, you can either activate it using the traditional way i.e. purchase a license product key or a new method call digital entitlement. The digital entitlement method is a new way and it doesn’t require you to enter a product key.
The table below show you the way you get the OS as well as the method used to activate it:

The Guide to Activating Windows 10
A new installation
You’ll need to use a product key or serial number to activate a new installation of OS on a device that has never been activated before.
You’ll also need to use a product key if the new installation is for an edition of Windows 10 that wasn’t previously activated on the device. For example, if you install Win 10 Pro version on a device that had Home version installed on it.
During the installation, you’ll be asked to enter the valid product key. After the installation is complete, your device will automatically activate online.
Activating after reinstalling Win 10
How you activate Win 10 after reinstalling it depends on how it was originally installed on your device.
If you activated your free upgrade to Windows 10 or bought and activated it from the Window Store, you have a digital entitlement for your device. This means you can reinstall the same edition of OS that your device has a digital entitlement for without entering a product key.
During reinstallation, if you’re asked to enter a product key, select Skip. Your device will automatically activate online after the installation is complete.
If you previously installed and activated the system using a product key, you’ll need to enter the product during the re-installation.
Note: For more info about how to create installation media, go to the Microsoft software download website. When creating installation media, make sure to choose the edition of OS that matches the edition that’s already installed on your device.
Using the Activator
The activator is a third-party program designed to activate the operating system without going through either one of the official activation methods described above.
In fact, some people say the activator is a crack tool that created with the intention to activate Window and/or Office. But those activators can really do their job in activating the OS.
There are several tools or loaders available but two of the popular activators are describe here:
- Microsoft Toolkit
This is an excellent 2-in-1 toolkit that able to activate Windows and Office but not in parallel. No installation is needed to run the tool but the entire file is bigger than other activators.
You can choose to use either Auto KMS or EZ-Activator to activate the OS or Office. It already proven that either option is working great. The only requirement is that your computer must installed with Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0+
The toolkit also equipped with other functionalities, so it’s good to read here and see the full details what the toolkit can do for you.
This is another popular and reliable activator that is widely used by people around the world. The selling point of this loader is that with just one click, your system will be activated! Because the tool will auto-detect the OS on your system and activate it once you push the button.
You also can activate both programs(Win+Office) at the same time i.e. parallel activation. Once the system is activated, it’s active for lifetime.
For more info, you can read the details about the kmspico activator here.
